Why choose a coffee press?

A French press coffee maker is a convenient and efficient way for coffee aficionados to make a hearty cup - or a few cups - of fresh coffee.

Once you get to know the correct amounts and timing for your serving (or have this KitchenAid digital precision version to guide you), it's a no-nonsense way to brew coffee.

It allows the coffee grounds to steep in hot water and then you simply push down the plunger, leaving a delicious brew.

How to use the French press - Artisan

The traditional French press method can take a bit of patience and practice to master. But, with the French press - Artisan, you can go from zero to hero immediately.

Turn it on and you'll see the LCD display light up. Press the scale button to measure the amount of coffee and then hot water you're putting in. An included chart shows you how much to add for the number of cups.
Then, press the timing button for a brew time of between 3 and 4 minutes. Nothing is left to chance, so the results are consistent. When the timer has finished, use the plunger and it’s ready to drink. This digital plunge coffee maker has a neat cordless design and dual-wall insulation to keep the heat inside while it’s brewing.

A stainless steel vs. a glass French press

Deciding whether to choose a stainless steel or glass cafetière? There are several advantages of choosing the KitchenAid stainless steel French press over a glass cafetière version. As well as looking sleek and sophisticated, there's no risk of shattering. A stainless steel French press is sturdy, highly durable and retains heat for longer with its dual-wall insulation. It will also resist staining and cracking - a sturdy piece of kit.

Beans: your secret to French press success

You can achieve a beautiful cup of French press coffee with the right coffee grounds: coarse and even. A good quality burr grinder will give you control over the grind so that it’s not too fine or uneven and will keeps its true flavour. Try it for yourself and you'll taste the difference.

Press with the best

The French Press is known for the action of pressing down the plunger. The assembly on this KitchenAid Precision Press Coffee Maker is made of stainless steel. To achieve optimum filtering, the strainer has 4 parts: the filter top, the rubber gasket, the mesh filter disc and the filter bottom.

Robust but fine, it achieves the best result: coffee that's bursting with flavour, along with some of the oils and tiny coffee particles - all of which can be taken away in filter coffee. A robust and satisfying cup.

Mmmm! Foods to enjoy with coffee

Do you like to savour a snack along with your cup of French press coffee? There are lots of flavours that seem to be a match made in heaven. Here are some ideas for a perfect pairing:

  • cinnamon swirl
  • almond biscotti
  • vegan blueberry cake
  • cheese and biscuits
  • bacon puff pastry
  • a few figs or blackberries

Who invented the French press?

The French press coffee maker was said to be invented by Paolini Ugo in France and later patented by Attilio Calimani and Giulio Moneta in 1929.

Popular around the world, it goes by various names today, such as the cafetière, press pot, coffee plunger or coffee press.

Decaf coffee in your French Press

If you have decaffeinated coffee due to personal preference or health reasons, you can still enjoy a full-flavoured cup. Use your French press - Artisan with high quality decaf coffee grounds with the same weight and brew time.

Savour the flavours, aromas and the pleasant ritual of using your stainless steel French Press - without the hit of caffeine.
